Tiara Beach Resort... FuyOOO!

National Day this year is the best. Why? My whole family along with my sis-in-law's family went on a holiday to Tiara Beach Resort. At last and finally got to go there. Been tryin to go there 2 years ago. Actually did not plan of going but when my colleague, Nora suggested we go on a holiday during the long National Day holiday, I quickly agreed coz did not go anywhere during the June Holiday. We then decided to go to Tiara Beach Resort but in the end she could not go. As usual, if I decide to go then I will go. Hubby also keen on going too.

This is the 2nd holiday I went with my sis-in-law. It was fun . We even planned to go for future holiday together. It was so much fun to go with another family rather than going alone with your family. Not that it was any less fun but it is certainly better. Hubby went about getting a van to rent. As for the accomodation, we did not book but went there and hope that there were rooms for us. Since both family do not use credit card, we could not book online. Searching the internet, we decided to go for the family rm which is rm320 per day. With both family sharing, the expenditure seems okay. Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketWe went on Wednesday, right after the celebration at school since it was half day. We went at about 2.00 pm. The journey was smooth. Sleeping most of the time. The journey became exciting when we saw rambutans hanging on the trees like nobody business all red and ripe. Meleleh air liur. Orang bandarlah katakan. Excited even when spotting cows and goats. I was more excited than my children. Reached there at about 5.30 pm. Relieved. The place seemed deserted. According to our speculation, that was what was expected.

Our adventure started after booking the room. Sis-in-law(Suraya)did not change any Malaysian ringgit but hubby change some. When we were about to pay for the accomodation, we realized that we were short of rm120. To those who think of going there, do have your ringgit Malaysia ready as they do not accept Singapore Dollar. We were told that the money changer is in Town about 20 minutes ride. So of we go. Along the way, we saw the beautiful beaches of Port Dickson and the many hotels/resort along the beach. But I guess, it will be quite boring as compared to Tiara Beach Resort. Most of the shops there are closed. Later we realized that everything was alive in the evening. Spotted a pasar malam in its true nature. Sayang tak turun. Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketPhoto Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

The town was quite small but the money changer shop was even smaller. A local guided us to the site to my hubby. Despite the long winded explaination, he managed to grasps the strategic point and walah, we spotted an Indian man, (why money lender must be Indian?) The shop was so small that probably only one man could go inside. Since it was dinner time, we spotted an eatery, Jom Makan. Kak Suraya, Wardah and me had white rice, kangkong and chicken. It was so delicious (hungry I guess). I enjoyed the dinner very much. Hubby as usual not eating, just grabbed a burger. The ambience reminded me of Fraser Hill, Chakoi Corner, a restaurant with the jungle as its theme. Lots of plants, ferns, orkids, hanging creepers, old tree trunk, minus the houseflies. Not so badlah. After dinner, we set of to our Tiara Beach Resort. The van will be going back. Will only coming back to fetch us home on Saturday.

We paid the balance for the accomodation and set to rest. It was a long day. It was a fairly nice room, reminded me of my 3-rm flat. A living and dinning area with a cabinet near the entrance with washing basin and a fridge all hidden in the cabinet. 2 bedroom, one with 2 single bed and one with Queen size with a bathroom. I choosed the one with the Queen size bed beacause of the children. Kak Suraya in the other room. Some of us have to sleep outside. I brought a sleeping bag to standby. The resort management was quite clever. The room had a wooden sofa so that extra visitors will have to rent extra mattress for rm30 instead of sleeping on it. Unlike Fraser hill where the sofa was so comfortable that we could sleep on it. We even used the cushion as mattress then.(Bukan lokek but budget)

Our initial plan was to go out by taxi later and change more ringgit if we need but getting a taxi from Tiara Beach was difficult and getting the resort service means rm45 to town. That means rm180 for 2 taxis to and fro!! After calculating the cost of eating at the in-house restaurant, we realized that it was about the same. Clever hotel management. Hubby had to calculate and budget our spending as we only have a limited amount of rm to spend since we cld not go to town now. When going for holiday, I let my hubby take care of the money part. Well, the food in the restaurant was nice. We ordered ala-carte as the buffet was quite expensive, rm35 per person. We tried, all sort of food like nasi goreng, spaghetti, chicken cutlet, fish and chips, mee goreng mamak

and nasi lemak. The best was nasi goreng sambal and my girl, Sara liked the Tiara Beach Nasi goreng special. To be able to last us until Saturday, we had only ice water to go with the meal. It was okay as we bought our sweet drinks from the convenient store which sells much cheaper.
For the first 2 days, we had the place to ourselves. There was not many people. There were at times only us swimming. My children woke up very early and dashed of to swim. I joined them as I never let them swim without me around. We had so much fun. When hubby joined us, it was even more fun. We went on the slide, ALL OF US!! It was exciting. Young and old, enjoying ourselves. We tried the sauna and the pathetic gym. Actually the Jurong East Swimming pool was much, much better not to mention Wild Wild Wet. There was no thrill except the slides. The higher slides was not allowed as it need servicing. Talking about servicing, I think everything in Tiara Beach Resort need servicing. The sink was almost falling apart, the plastic table on the beach had its leg coming off, the shower stand came off the wall, and a lot more other thing.

Staff there are very friendly. Maybe because we were all very friendly ourselves. Hubby as usual, played his part. Always befriend with the staff and you will get to know things other visitors dont. Next time we go there, we could get cheaper room rates, rm100 cheaper. Not bad heh.

Met my primary school teacher, Cikgu Mohamad, who sometimes do relief teaching in my school. He came with his family. Saw his son who looks exactly like him when he was younger. I remember calling him Cikgu Mata Kucing because he has beautiful brown eyes. I thought he was very handsome back then. Well, despite his age, he still looks okay for an old man but age is certainly cathing up on him, esp his hair when it gets wet! (what? looks botaklah!)

We swam most of the mornings, all get sun burn. After lunch we went to the Arcade or had a game of carom in the children playroom. After dinner, we watched outdoor in-house movie and acrobatic performances from Henan Province. By Friday there was more buzz. We spotted new families but we still had our swimming spaces as the pool was big. The resort was busy preparing tents for the coming family day. There were seminars going on too.

Before it got really crowded by Saturday, we checked out on Saturday morning. I thought days would be boring but it went by so fast but we were satisfied. Satisfied with the food and swimming. Off we set for home, passing the cows, goats and the air liur meleleh rambutan trees with red and some yellow rambutans hanging by the millions all left to rot (maybe).

We had our dinner at Angsana and did some shopping there. Thank goodness no jam at the causeway but many people at the immigression.

In all it was a nice holiday.
